Growing togetherThis Senior Actuarial Analyst will be part of a team that oversees the actuarial pricing process from beginning to end. Working cross-functionally with executive leadership, forecasting, medical economics, accounting, and many other teams across the organization as well as with external partners to ensure appropriate pricing for our Ancillary & Individual business. This role will be tasked with analyzing claims experience, trends, state rate filings and data to establish and maintain appropriate premium rates for our members, utilizing a data-driven analytical approach. This role will require a technical approach to support pricing initiatives.You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.Primary Responsibilities:Evaluate and analyze actuarial pricing files and processes for our individual ancillary lines to optimize revenue and profitability within Ancillary & IndividualPerform studies on membership, pricing, utilization, and health care cost trendsPerform analytics to identify opportunities for revenue adjustments, including rate changesSupport the execution of complex data programs to perform mathematical analyses and actuarial modelingAnalyze forecasts and trends and translate complex data in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiencesPerform competitive analysis and determine the impact on premiums and various product proposalsSupport the development and implementation of new productsSupport new and existing business, which may require working directly with state departments of insurance as well as other industry actuarial teamsIdentify opportunities for process improvements and support implementing those process improvementsUpdate automated processes for the teamYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience in an actuarial or analytic roleMust be on the Actuarial exam track, having passed 2 or more Actuarial exams2+ years of experience working in a corporate environment including experience collecting, analyzing and summarizing qualitative/quantitative dataAdvanced or higher level of proficiency with ExcelPreferred Qualifications:Proven experience applying AI and large language models (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to solve complex business problemsBasic or higher level of proficiency with SAS, SQL and/or SnowflakeProven excellent verbal and written communication skillsProven analytical and critical thinking skills*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter PolicyPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
