Radiology/CT (Hybrid)Technologist (Outpatient)-Full Time Days/Evenings

Job Summary This Diagnostic/CT Technologist will prepare patients and perform routine radiographic and CT procedures in accordance with physicians’ orders and procedure manual. The technologist produces high quality images and presents them with comparison studies and relevant patient information to the Radiologist for timely interpretation. The role supports the mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives of Mary Washington Healthcare and demonstrates a commitment to quality service for patients, families, the community, physicians, and associates. Schedule Monday‑Friday 10:30am‑7:00pm with rotating Saturdays. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Prepares patients for radiology and CT examinations by confirming physicians’ orders, verifying patient identities, and obtaining adequate medical histories for appropriate examinations. Performs radiology and CT examinations on all patient age groups and maintains clinical competency, evidenced by completion of an annual Competency Based Orientation Tool. Provides support in transporting patients from the FSED or Emergency Department/Nursing Units when required. Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, standards, and protocols to ensure effective departmental operations and quality patient care. Demonstrates a high degree of knowledge and understanding of Diagnostic/CT Imaging services and activities. Greets all patients, visitors, family members, physicians, and associates in a courteous and professional manner. Addresses customers’ needs efficiently, effectively, and confidentially. Answers telephone calls courteously, professionally, and by the third ring; screens and transfers calls or takes messages as appropriate. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors by supporting the establishment, maintenance, and education of an effective safety management program. Adheres to radiation safety practices for patients, personnel, and self, including the principles of time, distance, and shielding where possible. Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and materials by reporting depletion and restocking to ensure continued availability of services. Reports, records, and files patient and procedural data accurately to facilitate timely and accurate billing for services. Administers contrast agents and follows established guidelines for the selection, administration, and concentration of contrast types. Participates in performance improvement activities for Diagnostic Radiology using the FOCUS PDCA approach. Remains proficient in the current RIS system and other Radiology/organizational information management systems as needed. Interacts with students consistently, providing supervision and instruction; supports the MWH School of Radiologic Technology. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Completion of an accredited two‑year program in Radiologic Technology or equivalent. ARRT registered in Radiologic Technology with documented training on the provision of diagnostic CT exams; or, in lieu of such training, successful completion of the MWHC/MIF cross‑training program. American Heart Association CPR certification required. Six months’ relevant experience required; three years preferred. For Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital: must achieve ARRT certification in CT within six months of hire or within one year of completing the cross‑training program. For Medical Imaging of Fredericksburg: VA State Radiologic Technologist license required for all outpatient facilities. Advanced level certification by the ARRT or NMTCB in computed tomography preferred within one year after completion of CT training. Required Physical Requirements Constant (67‑100% of the workday) use of arms and hands; frequent (34‑66% of the workday) standing, walking, sitting; occasional (0‑33% of the workday) bending and squatting. Ability to lift 35 lbs. Ability to push and pull up to 20 lbs. Auditory and visual skills, including color determination. Mental Requirements Possesses critical thinking and analytical skills. Ability to multi‑task. Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team. Capacity to cope with difficult situations. Ability to tolerate irregular hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends. Environmental Requirements and Exposure Hazards Risk of exposure to radiation and toxic chemicals. Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens; requires appropriate personal protective equipment. For MRI associates: must complete MRI associate screening and be approved to work in the MRI environment (Zones 3 and 4) at all times.
