Floor: 2nd Floor, Building B in the Vintage Tower

General Information

Unit Overview: This Labor and Delivery unit consists of the following:

• Number of Labor Beds: 11
• Number of OB Evaluation Beds: 4
• Number of OB PACU Beds: 2
• Number of Operating Rooms: 2

Staff Composition:

• Total Staff: 79
• Day Shift Staff: 1 Charge Nurse, 10 Staff Nurses, 2 OB Technicians
• Night Shift Staff: 1 Charge Nurse, 10 Staff Nurses, 2 OB Technicians

Patient Ratios: 1 RN/2 patients during standard care, 1 RN/1 patient for critical care.

Required Skill Set

Essential Qualifications:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) Fetal Monitoring Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Over 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery
• Experience as a Transition Nurse/Baby Catching

Typical Procedures

• Non-Stress Tests (NST)
• Cervical Exams
• Labor Management and Medication Titration
• McRoberts Maneuver

Floating Responsibilities

Potential to float to Postpartum-Couplets as needed.

Dress Code

Hospital infant security scrubs are required attire.

On-Call Requirements

Weekend and on-call coverage may be required to meet unit needs.
