Actuarial Intern
Beyond Risk Management, Inc.
GPW and Associates, a Beyond Risk affiliate company, is seeking an actuarial intern for the Summer of 2027.
Job Summary: Be a contributor on an experienced actuarial team in a collaborative environment. Enhance your actuarial skills through a diverse set of tasks including reviewing and visualizing insurance data and supporting loss reserving and pricing analyses for clients. Learning Objectives:- Learn about actuarial reserving methods and assist in the development of loss reserve projections.
- Develop a toolkit of a modern actuary including data processing with SQL, data visualization, and data analysis using Excel/VBA, Python, and R.
- Work with a mentor to develop a capstone project focused on extending actuarial capabilities at GPW and present the project to senior members at GPW.
- Undergraduate or Graduate Student in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field required; high GPA preferred
- Successful completion of 1 or more actuarial exams is preferred but not required
- Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Excel and VBA experience preferred
- Working knowledge of database programming; SQL experience preferred
- Statistical knowledge: programming skills in R and/or Python preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively
