This role ensures the efficient flow of work orders, maintains a high standard of quality, and leads daily operations with a relentless focus on performance and detail. Area Leaders serve as the first level of escalation for problem-solving, communicate cross-functionally to eliminate roadblocks, and take initiative to motivate their team toward continuous improvement. Success in this role requires strong multitasking skills, a deep understanding of performance metrics, and the ability to escalate issues effectively and decisively when needed.Primary Job ResponsibilitiesTake full ownership of work order progress, ensuring jobs flow efficiently through the department and meet delivery targetsDrive a results-oriented culture, setting the pace and expectations for daily execution and throughputLead by example in upholding all Safety requirements and company guidelinesProactively identify, escalate, and resolve issues that impact delivery, quality, or safetyReinforce a culture of ownership, communication, and continuous improvementMaintain Hose Master standards for housekeeping and 5S; own the condition and organization of the areaEnsure quality checks are completed accurately and consistently throughout the shiftEnsure completion of all preventative maintenance tasks as scheduledMaintain a visible presence on the floor; proactively support operators, troubleshoot problems, and remove obstacles to successEnsure employees are properly trained and competent before assigning tasksCoordinate labor and machine assignments to hit daily production goals without sacrificing quality or safetyRun shift start-up meetings to align team priorities and communicate expectationsIdentify and escalate unstaffed equipment issues; work with supervision to create action plansServe as a hands-on leader: step into any function as needed to support flow and resultsParticipate in and support Emergency Response protocolsActively engage in Lean Daily Management practices and drive seamless shift-to-shift transitionsProvide first-level escalation support to operators; resolve issues or escalate to Supervisor when necessaryEnsure all operators have adequate tools, materials, and information to be successfulRegularly review and audit area procedures for clarity, accuracy, and sufficiencyMaintain and verify calibrated equipment and tools are in proper working orderAdhere to company purchasing limits and maintain integrity in resource useResponsible for area open and close procedures, including building securityUtilize hourly cell boards to track metrics, identify downtime, and escalate need for corrective action to SupervisorSupport first-piece inspection sign-offs and post-interruption validationsPerform required data entry, documentation, and non-conformance reporting accurately and in real timeLead or support rework/sorting activities and verify part segregation to ensure qualityConduct inspections and verify product quality as neededCollaborate on and contribute to the execution of Employee Development PlansTrain team members on Work Instructions and validate adherenceContinuously look for process improvements and communicate them to leadershipPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Leadership experienceAbility to understand and follow English instructions.Good basic math and mechanical skills.Must be able to read a tape measure, dial calipers and micrometer.Manufacturing experience preferred, but not requiredCore ValuesHonorable:Be HONESTTreat others FAIRLYBehave with INTEGRITYLoving:CARE for the well-being of our teamTreat others with KINDNESSProfessional:Treat others with RESPECTBe RELIABLE by following through and honoring commitmentsBe RESPONSIBLE and own your stuffCustomer Focused:APPRECIATE how each of our roles impacts othersProvide great SERVICE to all we encounterQuality Minded:DO IT RIGHTImagine a better way, CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENTHardworking:DEDICATE to giving your allBe PASSIONATE, show pride in your workPhysical RequirementsMust be able to lift up to 35 pounds; push/pull up to 50 pounds; transfer 20 – 100 pounds with the help of another person.Must be able to stand for long periods of time.Must be able to bend, squat, twist and kneel.Good hearing and vision – especially color vision due to color coding.Ability to use hand and power tools.Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.Hose Master is committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
