• Employment Type: Contract
• Schedule: 7:30am-4:30pm

What’s a typical day as a Security Officer?You will:

• Perform daily, quarterly, and as-needed security rounds, including egress/ingress control of the hospital.
• Respond to incidents and emergency situations such as fire, medical emergencies, bomb threats, flooding, hazardous materials incidents, and adverse weather.
• Interact with staff, residents, and visitors to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Collaborate with first responders and other hospital disciplines during emergencies or escalations to de-escalate conflicts.
• Use proper Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) methods.
• Provide communication and updates to the Incident Commander, Physical Plant Director, and other supervisory personnel.
• Conduct safety inspections, assist with vehicle and radio maintenance, and complete related documentation.
• Attend necessary training and perform other duties as assigned (approximately 5–10% of time).

This job might be an outstanding fit if you have: Knowledge of:

• Federal and state laws regarding campus safety and security
• Security measures, de-escalation, and use of force protocols
• Safe transportation and restraint of residents
• Security equipment (radios, cameras, electronic doors, fire extinguishers, etc.)
• Incident reporting, emergency evacuation, and fire safety procedures

Skills in:

• Applying and interpreting safety/security measures and crisis intervention techniques
• Verbal and written communication
• Basic first aid and CPR
• Working with diverse teams and first responders
• Training others on safety/security procedures

Ability to:

• Maintain composure and use appropriate intervention techniques in high-stress situations
• Guide team members in NVCI/CPI techniques
• Work effectively with people from various backgrounds
• Travel or attend meetings at alternate locations if needed

Selective Preferences:At least one year of progressive responsibility in security and/or safety, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting, or equivalent law enforcement experience. Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Current Arizona Driver’s License
• Valid Level One fingerprint clearance card
• APS Registry Verification
• Arizona Department of Public Service Guard Card
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) and/or CPI certification
