Natural Resource Specialist

Summary This position is located in a USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service state, area, or field office within Iowa. The incumbent serves as the Easement Coordinator for the Wetlands Reserve Program, Grasslands Reserve Program, Agricultural Conservation Easement Program, and Emergency Watershed Protection‑Floodplain Easements Program. The role assists with the implementation of agency easement programs. Major Duties Coordinates easement program restoration and stewardship activities. Provides leadership in statewide quality assurance activities related to NRCS programs with emphasis on easement programs. Leads and tracks easement program monitoring, violations, compatible use agreements, management plans, obligations, and fund integrity. Manages contracts for outside services to determine appropriate easement compensation rates and develops corresponding statewide Geographical Area Rate Caps. Maintains current understanding of federal, state, and local laws that may affect program implementation or agency mission. Performs additional duties as assigned. Qualifications College transcript required. Candidates must submit a copy of their college transcript with course numbers, department, course titles, credit hours, and grades earned. If a relevant course is not clearly qualifying, official syllabi or detailed course descriptions from the university/college must be provided. Transcripts must be in English or include an English translation. Foreign education must be verified with a certificate of foreign equivalency and recognition by an accrediting body accepted by the U.S. Department of Education. Physical Demands Both sedentary office work and moderate physical exertion during field visits. Field duties include walking on rough terrain, contact with livestock, moderate climbing over fences, bending, lifting, carrying moderately heavy objects, and working outdoors in all weather conditions. Use of a computer and other office equipment for extended periods is required. Driving and use of vehicle transportation required.
