R&D Product Engineer II

Medtronic Inc

Medtronic seeks an R&D Product Engineer II to support design changes and improvements for wound management product lines. The role involves mechanical and packaging design for absorbable medical devices, with focus on quality, cost reduction, and manufacturability within the Surgical Released Product Engineering team.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and analyze solutions for product improvements and manufacturing changes
Create and update engineering drawings and CAD specifications with tolerance stack evaluations
Conduct design analysis of customer complaints and returned products to identify root causes
Plan and execute verification and validation activities to confirm products meet requirements
Coordinate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, operations, and suppliers

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Biomedical, Mechanical, Materials, Manufacturing, or related engineering discipline
2 years relevant work experience with Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree in Engineering
Experience with medical device mechanical design using CAD, tolerance analysis, and modeling
Hands-on experience with product packaging design inside sterile barrier
Knowledge of injection molded components and tooling design
Familiarity with root cause analysis, design verification, and validation methodologies
