Job Description:
Locum Pathologist needed for a robust lab practice. Must be able to gross. Will be working with 2 other pathologists, 3 histotechs, 2 tech assistants, and 2 cytotechnologists. Typically handling 200-250 cases daily, split among three pathologists. Each provider handles approximately 30-50 surgical cases and 10 cytology cases per day. Case mix includes surgical nephrology, general pathology, GI, breast, hematology (minimal), gynecology/non-gynecology, and very limited neuro cases (no neuro, peds, or autopsies). All hematopathology, including bone marrow, is sent to an external oncology lab.
Provider responsibilities include grossing, FNA, and rapid interpretation. Expect 3-4 hours of grossing every third day. Pathologists work on a 3-day rotation:
- Day 1: Grossing (40-50 cases), frozen sections (1-4 per week), call from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. the next morning
- Day 2: Readout and ordering IHC/special stains
- Day 3: Cytology support for bronch suite and cytology case readouts
