Production Artist

The Production Artist aids in both small and large format print production on campus in the Union Marketing main office and Union Marketing Student Copy Center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Order fulfillment for small format printing, including flyers, booklets, and lamination Daily production and hanging and removal of new and outdated window clings and posters Ability to communicatewith team members as well as clients and other parts of the Department Assist as needed with other large format production such as concourse banners, mounted posters, and other special production projects Assist as needed in all Program Department functions and events.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

May need to paginate or modify existing files. Responsible for keeping supplies, work area and equipment clean and in order. Responsible for keeping track of inventory and ensuring supply is appropriately stocked Other duties as required by student lead and/or supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to read and follow directions Ability to work under pressure and produce quality work quickly and accurately Strong willingness to help patrons, troubleshoot, and creatively problem‑solve Basic knowledge of printing, cutting, and mounting prints on various materials. Basic knowledge of Mac computers Ability to hang posters and window clings evenly and accurately. Ability to work well with others and independently; ability to effectively work without direct supervision. Ability to assist in set‑up of moderately heavy equipment. Basic math skills Strong candidates will have experience with: AdobeCC Suite, particularly InDesign Printers and other production equipment such as laminators, hydraulic cutters, and binding machines

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift up to 30lbs. occasionally Ability to sit at a desk for large portions of the workday Ability to use a stepladder to assist with the hanging of posters and clings

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

Hours are available Monday-Friday between 8am-5pm Scheduling is flexible with class scheduling. However, strong candidates are able to work at least 3 weekdays between the hours of 10am and 2pm for Copy Center walk‑in availability.

Critical Thinking is developed in this position through learning to optimize and perfect the print production process. This includes learning to utilize tools and technology effectively and efficiently to get the print job done quickly and to the highest standard of quality. Tech Savviness is developed through the general troubleshooting process of a variety of equipment, from Adobe software to large format printers. Learning to solve problems by gaining a more intimate knowledge of the technology to find out both where things went wrong and how to optimize it in the future will further develop this skill.
