Mechanical design engineer

Industry leader seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to design, develop, and optimize industrial steel pallet racking systems and integrated storage solutions. You should have experience designing racking systems or automated storage retrieval systems (AS/RS). Financially strong company with a great culture of growth and integrity. responsibilities:

• Create and refine detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings for uprights, beams, and specialized racking components using design software

• Perform basic structural analysis and load capacity calculations to ensure racking configurations meet seismic and weight-load requirements

• Collaborate with the production team to optimize designs for various manufacturing processes to reduce scrap and lead times

• Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering change notices (ECNs)

• Iterate designs based on load testing performance data and failure analysis

requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field; equivalent experience to be considered

• Required: experience designing steel pallet racking systems or automated storage retrieval system (AS/RS)

• Knowledge of RMI (Rack Manufacturers Institute) or AISI standards for cold-formed steel design highly preferred

• Advanced experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and 2D drafting. Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software is a plus
