CVOR Surgical Technologist

Job Summary:

The Surgical Services CVOR Technician provides specialized technical support in cardiovascular and thoracic operating rooms, assisting in complex surgical procedures such as CABG, AVR, AAA, MVR, and minimally invasive valve surgeries. This role requires proficiency in scrub duties, flexible endoscope reprocessing, and the ability to float to general OR cases. The technician must be a quick learner, adaptable, and willing to assist others in learning, ensuring smooth surgical operations within a Level II Trauma Center environment. Responsibilities:

• Perform singular scrub duties during cardiothoracic surgical cases.
• Assist with general, cardiovascular/thoracic, and laparoscopic surgeries.
• Support surgical teams during complex procedures including CABG, AVR, AAA, MVR, VATS, mediastinoscopy, RATS, and carotid cutdowns.
• Handle flexible endoscope reprocessing, preferably including bronchoscopes, EGD scopes, and EBUS.
• Float to general operating room cases as needed, including OB/GYN, plastic, ENT, urology, robotic, ortho, neuro/crani, and transplant surgeries.
• Assist with laser lead standby and CVL support during procedures.
• Maintain surgical equipment and ensure readiness for procedures.
• Adhere to hospital policies and safety standards during all surgical interventions.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a surgical technologist, preferably in cardiovascular/thoracic surgery.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Washington State license.
• Agreement to work at least 10 call shifts per month.
• Ability to work 4x10 day shifts from 06:30 to 17:00.
• Willingness to assist with learning and adapt quickly in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification.
• Experience with adolescent patients.
• Experience with flexible endoscope reprocessing, including bronchoscopes, EGD scopes, and EBUS.
• Familiarity with robotic, ortho/totals, neuro/crani, transplant, and other specialized surgical procedures.

Special Considerations:

• Must accept and fulfill at least 10 call shifts per month, covering hours from 17:00 to 06:30.
• Required to work 1-2 weekends per month.
• Floating to general OR cases is mandatory.
• Scrub color restrictions: any color except reddish orange.
• Facility uses EPIC for charting.
• Parking cost is covered by the facility.
• Locals are not accepted; pending licenses may be accepted.

Scheduling:

• 4x10 hour day shifts, 06:30 to 17:00.
• Call shifts required at least 10 times per month, during evening and overnight hours (17:00 to 06:30).
• Weekends required 1-2 times per month.
