Category Therapy Position Summary United Medical Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic physical therapist to join our dynamic therapy team. This inpatient rehabilitation facility in Gretna, Louisiana, requires a dedicated and compassionate PT to provide high‑quality, in‑person therapy services. The PT will assess, treat, and develop individualized plans to help patients regain mobility, strength, and function after injuries, surgeries, or neurological conditions. The candidate will work under physician orders and collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities Evaluate patients in a timely manner to obtain data necessary for treatment planning and implementation. Conduct specialized evaluations as indicated. Interpret and communicate evaluation findings to patients, family, and other team members. Establish individual patient schedules in conjunction with other team members. Develop treatment plans by identifying a problem list, including short- and long-term goals and methods to achieve identified goals. Coordinate treatment plan with patient, family and other team members. Monitor patient’s response to intervention and modify treatment as indicated to attain goals in accordance with physician orders. Document results of patient assessment, treatment, follow‑up, and termination of services in a timely manner. Adapt treatment to meet the individual needs of the patient. Participate in discharge planning. Provide, recommend, or fabricate adaptive devices, orthotics or prosthetics. Train patient, family and appropriate staff in the use or application of the above. Supervise and direct LPTAs in the implementation of the treatment plan. Review the quality and appropriateness of the total services delivered and of individual Physical therapy programs for effectiveness and efficiency, using predetermined criteria. Communicate formally and informally with other team members, including nursing department, to coordinate the total rehabilitation program. Assume responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development. Provide treatment in accordance with established standards of practice and department procedures. Comply with all Infection Control, Universal Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional. Consistently demonstrate sound judgment in the evaluation, planning, implementation, and follow‑up of patient therapy programs. Adhere to established confidentiality standards. Project a positive and professional image at all times. Qualifications Master of Science in Physical Therapy from an accredited program. Successful completion of National Certification Examination for Registered Physical Therapist. Current BCLS certification. Current Louisiana licensure. Position Requirements: Occasional exposure to blood borne pathogens in the normal performance of job duties.
