Job Description Job Description About the Role: We are looking for Light Duty Tow Truck Operators for our Middleburg Heights and Oakwood Village locations to provide timely and safe towing services for light vehicles such as cars, motorcycles, and small trucks. This position requires the operator to respond promptly to roadside assistance calls, ensuring vehicles are recovered and transported efficiently to designated locations. The operator must maintain a high standard of safety and professionalism while handling vehicles and interacting with customers in potentially stressful situations. Additionally, the role involves routine inspection and maintenance of the tow truck to ensure operational readiness. Minimum Qualifications: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Basic knowledge of vehicle towing and recovery techniques. Ability to operate towing equipment safely and effectively. Physical ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting and securing vehicles. Background free of felonies Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience as a tow truck operator or in a related transportation role. Certification in towing and recovery operations from a recognized industry organization. Familiarity with local traffic laws and regulations related to towing. Strong customer service skills and experience handling difficult situations professionally. Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor vehicle or equipment issues. Responsibilities: Respond to dispatch calls and provide prompt roadside assistance and towing services for light vehicles. Operate light duty tow trucks safely and efficiently to recover and transport vehicles to repair shops, impound lots, or customer-specified locations. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tow truck to ensure it is in good working condition and report any mechanical issues. Communicate effectively with customers to explain services, provide updates, and ensure a positive service experience. Maintain accurate records of tows, including locations, times, and any incidents or damages. Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies while operating the tow truck. Assist with loading and unloading vehicles using winches, chains, and other towing equipment safely. Skills: The required skills enable the operator to safely and efficiently handle towing equipment and vehicles, ensuring the protection of property and personal safety. Strong driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws are essential for navigating various road conditions and responding quickly to service calls. Customer service skills are used daily to communicate clearly and empathetically with vehicle owners, providing reassurance and professional assistance. Mechanical aptitude helps in performing routine inspections and minor troubleshooting to maintain the tow truck’s operational status. Preferred skills such as certification and prior experience enhance the operator’s ability to manage complex towing scenarios and deliver superior service quality.
