Interventional Cardiologist Position

The Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina, in affiliation with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Interventional Cardiologist to join our interventional cardiology team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art interventional cardiac care to our nation's veterans, performing a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic coronary and structural procedures in a well-equipped cardiac catheterization laboratory. In addition to direct patient care, this position carries a strong academic mission, with the physician serving as a clinical educator and mentor to MUSC's general and interventional cardiology fellows, contributing to didactic teaching, procedural training, and the overall development of the next generation of cardiovascular specialists.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

1. Performs and records history and physical examinations and records data from clinic visits.
2. Evaluates, consults, develops diagnosis, and manages the Veteran.
3. Enters progress notes in computerized medical record and completes workload documentation in a timely manner.
4. Provides medical care encompassing acute and chronic medical conditions and all appropriate preventive care for both male and female veterans.
5. Orders diagnostic tests, medications, laboratory tests as medically relevant for each patient.
6. Provides timely follow-up on results and patient inquiries, including and not limited to completion of view alerts, secure messages and other patient communications.
7. Determines medical assessment and develops treatment plans according to accepted protocols.
8. Prescribes medications according to approved formulary, and in accordance with Federal and State Law.
9. Educates patients concerning medical conditions and recommended treatments. (Specific topics include but are not limited to nutritional counseling, need for smoking cessation, need for periodic immunizations and health screening tests, acute and chronic disease management and other preventive health measures).
10. Consults other specialties as appropriate, according to service agreements.

Work Schedule: Parttime; Monday - Friday; between the hours of 7:30am - 4:00pm or 8:00am - 4:30pm (Negotiable based on applicant and patient needs).
