Electrical Project ManagerElectrical Project Managers report to a Division Manager and are responsible for the management, performance and completion of assigned projects in accordance with the policies and procedures of the company. Ideal candidates possess in-depth knowledge of installation, alterations, additions and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials within the commercial construction industry. Their responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:OperationsSuccessful in previous positionsStable and steady employment historyLogical reasons for employment changesExperience and background indicate the candidate can perform the job wellCandidate feels confident that he/she can perform the job wellElectrical license preferred but not requiredCommunicationSuperior verbal communication skills; Ability to express thoughts clearlyExcellent reading, writing, and comprehension skillsDisplays active/effective listening skillsAbility to translate and communicate technical jargon into layman termsKeeps conversations on track without getting'sidetracked'Asks pertinent questions/follow-up questionsPossess a demeanor that is believable and inspiringPersonalityHigh-energy levelPositive attitude and enthusiasmGoal-oriented approach to achievementHonest and forthrightAbility to get along with others and be a team playerAbility to handle criticismCapable of being managedMotivated to succeed.Ongoing efforts at self-improvementThorough in gathering data.Handles paperwork in a timely fashion.Strong time management skillsProfessional image. Neatness of appearance and dress.Appropriate remarks and attitude towards past employers and clients.Additionally, the ideal candidate possesses the physical fitness and visual acuity necessary to perform the requirements of the position, i.e., survey electrical rooms, climb ladders, walk on rooftops, open electrical panels, read equipment nameplate data, etc. Monitor and control the Company's established policies and procedures in the areas of, but not limited to:The Division Office Operations Procedures (General Policies and Operating Procedures).Vehicle usage.The Hazard Communication Program.The Quality Assurance Program.The Substance Abuse Program.The Safety and Hot Work Program.Policies concerning suppliers.Monitor and control, by review and verification, all paperwork related to assigned jobs/work orders.Adherence to the Division Calendar to assure that weekly, monthly and quarterly schedules are met.EngineeringProfit/loss of assigned jobs.Monitor and control the job processing responsibilities on assigned projects.Monitor and control estimating including, but not limited to, the following:Assignment of estimators to specific projects.Assure that estimated are entered into the Estimate Log.Assure that all paperwork and other procedures are adhered to.Review and approve estimates and design/build projects within authorized limits.Preparation, bidding and re-estimate of assigned jobs and work orders.Recommend changes concerning material, labor, and EPAS.Preparation of pay-request breakdowns and monthly pay requests.Purchasing of all material for assigned projects plus verification of orders placed.Material approval submittal procedure.Preparation, submittal and processing of change orders and revisions.ProductionAccountable to management for monitoring:Problems relating to safety on the project and job security for material, tools and equipment.Problems relating to storage facilities.Monthly Job Productivity Reports.Productivity of assigned jobs/work orders.Jobs/work orders to assure they are being done in the most efficient and economical manner.Wage rates, labor, training and supervision of assigned jobs/work ordersPersonnel management to ensure employees start and stop work on time.Fleet management (Number of trucks being driven to a work site).Storage facilities on job sites.Use, coordination and supply of division tools, trucks and equipment.ExperienceDemonstrated success in previous positionsStable and steady employment historyLogical reasons for employment changesExperience and background indicate the candidate can perform the job wellElectrical license preferred but not requiredLicense and CertificationsLicenses: Current driver's license if required by job conditions; applicable federal, state and local licenses as required by job conditions or by the company.Certifications: Applicable federal, state and local certifications as required by job conditions or by the company.Education: High School Graduate, holder of G.E.D., or equivalent Watson training.Working ConditionsMajority of work is performed in office environment.Visits to job sites require exposure to all elements (heat, cold, rain, snow), depending on time of year and job location.Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns).Wear personal protective equipment as required in Safety Handbook.Able to work 40 hours per week and any overtime as required including: night shifts, and out-of-town jobs if needed.SkillsPlan, direct, and coordinate an entire activity or the activities of others.Evaluate information and analyze problems logically to develop solutions.Express ideas clearly to others.Work with figures quickly and easily.Deal with people in actual job duties beyond giving and receiving instructions.Work independently.Understand the meanings and relationships of words and use language effectively.Work with numbers accurately to review budgets, materials, and time schedules.Make decisions based on personal judgment.Perform a variety of duties, which may change often.Deal with people in actual job duties and have agreeable working relationships.See details and recognize errors in written material, numbers, charts, or tables.Communicate well.Comprehend and practice safe work procedures as outlined in Company SafetyOperate company vehicles with manual and automatic transmission.Physical FunctionHear and see well (either naturally or with correction).Sit for long periods of time.Speak clearly.Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to gain access to all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder, or stairs still under construction but acceptable for use.Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers.This description covers the principal duties and responsibilities of the job.
