Work Arrangement : On‑Site Department : Clinical Engineering Facility : University Hospital – 1 Hospital Drive, Columbia, MO Compensation : Base Pay Range: $25.32 - $39.99 per hour, based on experience ABOUT THE JOB The Biomedical Equipment Technician I provides technical support to medical equipment users and performs entry-level troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair of a broad range of clinical and diagnostic biomedical equipment. DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION Provides technical support to medical equipment users and documents the results of problem-solving efforts. Troubleshoots equipment issues and identifies root causes to determine appropriate corrective actions. Identifies and communicates changes in test methods or equipment as needed to support accurate testing outcomes. Performs routine measurements to assess the sensitivity, selectivity, and accuracy of medical equipment. Maintains, repairs, and calibrates medical equipment to meet industry standards and regulatory compliance. Performs preventive maintenance according to manufacturer guidelines and department procedures. Conducts safety inspections on assigned equipment and initiates service requests based on inspection findings. Performs various service tasks on general electronic and low- to medium-risk medical equipment. May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Associate's degree (or equivalent credit hours) in biomedical equipment technology, electronics, computer science, computer information systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS One (1) year of clinical or healthcare work experience. Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
