Position Snapshot A Production Supervisor directs and coordinates manufacturing operations for a single shift to meet company objectives and standards. Responsibilities include employee relations, safety, quality, efficiency, quantity, training, environmental compliance, and coaching associates in continuous improvement. You must work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime, and be willing to perform operator duties when required. Responsibilities Supervise the work of assigned personnel on your shift, coach and support them to reach their maximum potential. Handle employee relations, housekeeping, safety, production problems, and cost control for the shift. Prepare for each shift by reviewing conditions with the previous shift’s Production Team Leader, checking orders, and scheduling machines. Ensure material supplies are adequate. Conduct pre‑shift meetings to check for absentees, distribute assignments, and communicate plant goals and concerns. Prepare daily reports, production reports, counseling records, purchase requisitions, and maintenance work orders. Support and administer policies, promoting a positive work environment. Comply with Oracle and Maximo system requirements. Lead training and development for new team members to ensure successful integration and performance. Step in to perform operator duties when necessary to support production demands and staffing. Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor (≈70% of the workday) to support operators, address issues, and drive efficiency, while dedicating the remaining 30% to administrative tasks. Act as a designated First Aid responder, providing assistance during workplace incidents and emergencies. Inventory Conduct cycle counts. Coordinate scrap and inventory functions to maintain accurate inventory. Monitor materials used in production and adjust system entries as needed. Check completed orders, correct entries, and provide computer system training when necessary. Safety Conduct visual inspections of the plant to identify and correct hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Enforce use of safety equipment, conduct accident investigations, and recommend procedural changes to prevent accidents and illness. Lead toolbox safety/information meetings. Quality Check with the Quality Assurance Department on test results for equipment to ensure only top‑quality product is produced. Monitor finished product and work‑in‑process quality throughout the shift and adjust as needed. Requirements and Education Minimum of 3 years of work‑related experience, preferably in steel wire manufacturing. Above‑average interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and develop individuals are required. Professional or technical degree preferred (2‑year Associate Degree). No formal degree is mandatory.
