Technical Sales Specialist - Gene Synthesis & Cloning

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Technical Sales Specialist to drive sales of GeneArt Gene Synthesis and Cloning Services across the central US. The role combines technical expertise in molecular biology with consultative selling to help academic, biotech, and pharmaceutical researchers implement complete workflow solutions.
Responsibilities
- Serve as technical expert for GeneArt Gene Synthesis and Cloning portfolio, advising researchers on workflow solutions
- Consult with academic, biotech, pharmaceutical, and government researchers to understand project goals and recommend complete solutions
- Build and maintain relationships with principal investigators, research scientists, core facilities, and laboratory managers
- Develop strategic territory business plans to drive GeneArt service adoption and molecular biology portfolio growth
- Deliver technical presentations, seminars, and workshops tailored to specific research applications
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biotechnology, or related life science field
- 5+ years of work experience combining life sciences sales and bench research
- Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) preferred
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. without assistance
- Strong technical expertise in gene synthesis, cloning, and molecular biology workflows
- Demonstrated consultative selling skills and customer relationship building
Compensation: $84,000–$124,500 base
