This position is accountable for managing project execution, ensuring adherence to budgets, schedules, safety standards, and quality requirements. The Operations Manager will also serve as a key leader within the company, maintaining client relationships, supporting strategic growth, and mentoring project management staff to ensure long-term operational excellence.ResponsibilitiesOversee daily operations of multiple heavy highway construction projects and crewsEnsure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents and company quality standardsCollaborate with project managers to establish project strategy, allocate resources, and mitigate risksReview and analyze project documents, specifications, and requirements to confirm compliancePartner with the safety team to implement and monitor site-specific safety programsTrack budgets, schedules, and project milestones, reporting updates to company leadershipProvide proactive solutions to operational challenges and communicate project needs to senior managementBuild and maintain strong relationships with contractors, partners, and clients to support strategic growthTrain, mentor, and develop employees in project management and estimating practicesContribute to continuous improvement of operational processes and company-wide best practicesRequired QualificationsBachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management15+ years of experience in construction operations, including at least 10 years in project management rolesHeavy highway construction background (concrete paving, sitework, drainage, or related projects)Stable work history with demonstrated leadership in operations managementStrong leadership skills with experience mentoring and developing staffExcellent communication, analytical, and organizational abilitiesAbility to read and interpret specifications and ensure adherence to contract documentsProven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities under strict deadlinesMust be comfortable working in a dog-friendly office environmentAbility to work primarily in-office (85%) with some field responsibilities (15%)Preferred QualificationsMasters degree in Management, Engineering, or related fieldExperience with DOT or municipal projects in Louisiana (state or local level)Background in both fieldwork and office-based project managementDemonstrated success in business development or building strategic client relationshipsWork EnvironmentPrimarily office-based with occasional field visitsCollaborative, team-oriented workplace environmentMust be adaptable and proactive in both field and office settings
