Overview

We're hiring a Machinist to join our small, hands-on machine shop team.

We’re open to machinists from both manual and CNC backgrounds, but strong manual machining fundamentals are important. You’ll work across manual, conventional, and CNC equipment while building your skills in setups, workholding, troubleshooting, code editing, and eventually CAM programming.

This is a role for someone who wants to become a more capable, independent machinist—not just run the same production cycle all day.

Compensation

• $24–$28 / hr
• Additional earning potential as your machining, setup, and programming capabilities grow

• Monday - Friday

Responsibilities

• Manual & conventional machining: Operate manual lathes, mills, and conventional/special -purpose machines as a core part of the role.
• Setups:  Install and adjust chucks, collets, tooling, and indicating vises.
• Print reading: Study blueprints and sketches to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Shop math: Calculate setup requirements using geometry and trigonometry.
• Inspection: Verify settings by measuring first-run parts and sample workpieces.
• CNC cross-training:  Learn to enter zero and reference points, offsets, and conditional switches; work toward editing and troubleshooting G&M code at the controller.
• CAM exposure:  Build familiarity with our in-house CAM programs (Fusion 360) and part programs as your training progresses.
• Troubleshooting:  Detect malfunctions, adjust controls, and replace worn tools.
• Preventive maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on machines as required.
• Flexibility: Jump between manual, conventional, and (as you train up) CNC equipment as production needs shift.

Requirements

Qualifications

Required

• Programs and proves out CNC lathes and mills
• Sets up chucks, collets, and tooling independently
• Reads blueprints to determine dimensions and tolerances
• Applies geometry and trigonometry to setup calculations
• Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds

Preferred

• Associate's degree or 2–3 years machining experience

• Prior experience on Fanuc controls
• Experience with CAM programming software
• Experience running manual and conventional machines
• Overhead crane or fork truck experience
• Thread chasing and knurling experience
• Certificate from a technical machining program
