CDL Driver/Rigger (Houston, TX)

Position Summary CDL Drivers must be able to safely drive tractor and trailer rigs under DOT regulations to transport equipment and crews to job sites. May also be involved with rigging or crating work. Please see Rigger and Crater job description for those specific responsibilities. This role requires safe handling and securement of loads while loading and unloading equipment. Must remain positive, flexible, and professional and can work collaboratively and independently to achieve stated goals and ensure regulatory compliance. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections on a daily basis. Drive safely under DOT regulations, operating tractor & trailer rigs to transport equipment to job sites. Maintain electronic logs and complete required paperwork daily. Handle, secure, tarp, tie‑down, load, and unload equipment, ensuring safe handling of loads. Adequately secure loads, test rigging, and select gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches according to load weights and sizes. Operate industrial equipment and forklifts; basic knowledge of operating equipment (forklifts, man lifts, mobile platform lifts, etc.). Signal or verbally direct workers involved in hoisting, moving loads, or operating heavy equipment to ensure safety of workers and materials. Control the movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, using chain falls, gin poles, gallows frames, or other equipment. Fabricate, set up, repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, or pulling gear, using hand and power tools. Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support materials such as heavy equipment, ships, or theatrical sets. Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures (beams, ceilings, gin pole booms) using bolts and clamps. Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use. Complete housekeeping duties in assigned area or project area daily and/or when required. Perform other job responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education) HS diploma or equivalent. Valid Class A CDL with air‑breaks and combination endorsements. Minimum two years proven driving experience at CDL level. Minimum three years proven experience in the construction service industry or comparable field. Basic knowledge of operating equipment and load securement practices. Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment, hand, power, and pneumatic tools. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Performing general physical activities requiring considerable use of arms and legs, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials up to 50 pounds.
