Production Supervisor (Manufacturing exp NEEDED) - Buena Vista, VA

Responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the assigned Departments. Effectively manage time and resources to ensure production of a quality product in a timely manner to meet customer expectations. Support management by adhering to and enforcing company policies and conducting business in a manner that supports the company’s objectives as outlined in the business plan. Within our facility, the safety of our employees is our number one priority. The supervisor is responsible for assuring that all employees conduct their job duties in a safe manner, avoiding injury, and encouraging an atmosphere where employees feel free to immediately bring any unsafe acts or conditions to management’s attention for resolution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise, organize, and requisition materials needed for departments to comply with production schedules and releases to meet customer demands. Work with other supervisors for timely completion of other manufactured parts.
- Instill quality, efficiency, and good work habits within the department. Make sure all new department employees are properly trained on machinery and equipment within department.
- Maintain a uniform, consistent, and unbiased treatment of all employees in conformance with Company Policies and Procedures and administer corrective action measures for violations in conjunction with the Human Resources Department. Must document and hold all employees responsible for their behaviors, actions, and quality of work.
- Coordinate inspection and quality control activities involved in the operating processes. Monitor inspection processes to assure that Work-In-Process meets customer specifications and manufacturing drawings.
- Provide instructions, guidance, and direction as well as technical support to employees. Ensure appropriate “on the job training” and cross-training for employees within realm of responsibility to enable employees to perform efficiently and effectively. Recommend process changes as required.
- Conduct daily huddles as well as weekly and monthly communication and training meetings with employees consisting of department & company information, safety concerns & training, lean training, etc. and provide documentation of same.
- Responsible for compliance with all OSHA requirements and company safety requirements: department, safety awareness, accident prevention, and accident investigations. Participate in investigations along with employees and complete the incident/injury forms in a timely manner. Advise employees of company safety requirements.
- Participate in and implement general administrative programs such as employee training, employee relations, safety, and enforcement of company rules and regulations for the assigned department. Remain informed of new technical or other developments relevant to manufacturing operations, e.g., equipment, methods to improve quality - with cost reduction as ultimate goal.
- Control labor and material variances in assigned department through adequate supervision and monitoring of costs.
- Maintain operating costs within the budget by monitoring standards and costing procedures.
- Maintain housekeeping in areas of responsibility.
- Complete material transactions to ensure accurate inventory (raw and finished goods).
- Appraise employee performance and recommend wage adjustment or change of status.
- Keep all equipment and tools in proper, working order. Report all necessary repairs to maintenance. Remove all worn or broken tools from the floor.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Educational Requirements / Experience:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in management/supervision or equivalent manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Strong motivational skills
