Principal Data Engineer

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Principal Data Engineer to lead enterprise data integration strategy and architecture for a 2-year duration role. The position requires owning technical decisions, driving scalable solutions across cloud platforms, and partnering with cross-functional teams to modernize data systems and deliver governed AI capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end data integration strategy, owning architecture decisions and standards across batch, real-time, and event-driven integrations
- Design and implement scalable enterprise integration solutions using APIs, ETL/ELT pipelines, and cloud-native patterns on Azure and Databricks
- Partner with business, product, and application teams to define data exchange requirements and establish integration governance processes
- Drive source system onboarding, establish reusable integration frameworks, and embed data quality controls and monitoring capabilities
- Mentor and coach engineering talent while coordinating cross-functional teams to manage dependencies, risks, and release readiness
Requirements
- 10+ years progressive enterprise data engineering, architecture, and analytics experience
- Deep expertise in Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Power BI, and Data Mesh architectures
- Proven leadership of Agile delivery organizations and technical teams across multiple functions
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native architectures, API-first design, and enterprise integration patterns
- Experience with modern SDLC, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code
- Expertise in data governance, data modeling, and enterprise data management frameworks
