Specialized Populations Officer - Juvenile

Provide intensive case management for the highest-risk youth Conduct screening and risk tools Conduct investigations for the Court Complete intakes at the request of law enforcement Facilitate groups, including topical, supervision, cognitive, skill-building, life-skills, and general education groups Apply the science of brain development in work with youth Provide skill training and high-level engagement with families, schools, and service providers Match services to key life areas Monitor court conditions Perform transition planning for youth placed out of home Investigate, monitor, and supervise targeted, program-specific high-risk individuals on probation, post-release supervision, and/or involved in Problem-Solving Court Perform counseling, case management, and case reporting functions Develop a team supervision approach with referral sources and justice-system partners Participate in treatment processes through communication with treatment providers and attendance at treatment groups and facilities Assist in developing relapse prevention plans Prepare violation and compliance reports and conduct record checks Enter and update client information in appropriate systems Determine reports to send to the court for updates Perform other duties of a similar nature or level Support operations across both the Fremont and Blair offices through field visits and additional regional travel Requirements Bachelor's degree in social services, Criminal Justice or directly related field 2 years of experience in case management in related fields Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education Knowledge of customer service principles Knowledge of the Criminal Justice system, laws, legal codes, and court procedures Knowledge of interview and assessment procedures and practices Knowledge of intervention policies and procedures Knowledge of cognitive skill building and motivational learning Knowledge of social learning theory Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques Knowledge of modern office procedures and equipment Knowledge of recordkeeping principles Knowledge of document review techniques Knowledge of computers and related software applications Skill in making home visits Skill in interviewing probationers Skill in tracking probationers' locations Skill in utilizing probation and protective techniques Skill in applying applicable laws, rules, and regulations Skill in preparing activity reports and updating databases Skill in operating computers and applicable software applications Non-traditional hours and on-call availability are expected Regular travel is required across the Fremont and Blair offices Occasional evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required The Judicial Branch does not sponsor STEM (Form I-983) or non-immigrant work visas for this position Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in case management, crisis intervention, and cognitive skill building for high-risk youth, while effectively collaborating with families, schools, and justice-system partners.
