Essential Functions: The Behavioral Health Department at Center on Halsted (COH) provides LGBTQ+ trauma informed, strength based, & client centered therapy. Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Behavioral Health, the Behavioral Health Clinician will provide individual, relationship and group therapy for individuals who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer (LGBTQ+), as well as individuals affected by trauma and/or HIV. This position focuses on clinical work and services to empower our community and allies to thrive and live powerfully throughout their lifespan.


Job Description

Duties: In order to be successful, an individual must be able to effectively contribute to the following duties and metrics satisfactorily:

• Ensure 80% of clients seeking individual therapy are seen for a minimum of five (5) sessions by maintaining a full case load of at least 20 therapy appointments per week.
• Ensuring 60% of clients who attend group therapy participate in at least five (5) group sessions by facilitating multiple group sessions throughout the year.
• Ensure that all individuals who contact the Center on Halsted for Behavioral Services are provided with the information and resources they requested.
• Maintain 80% or higher satisfactory rating from client services received and improvement in their quality of life.
• Available to provide ongoing therapy services for clients in search of walk-in crisis treatment.
• Provide counseling, advocacy and case management services to survivors of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and Gender-Based Violence (BPV).
• Participate in all necessary trainings on topics pertinent to serving LGBTQ clients with multiple marginalized identities.
• Attends and participates in all department meetings and contributes to the development of the behavioral health department, and student training program.
• Maintain timely, accurate, confidential, &HIPAA compliant clinical records.
• Provide referrals, information, and linkage to clients as clinically indicated.
• Meets due dates as established by supervisor and grant reporting requirements.
• Participate annually in the selection and orientation of new trainee students.
• Once licensed, clinically supervise at least one (1) trainee student weekly as necessary.
• Attends monthly Center on Halsted All Staff meetings to remain current on Center on Halsted programming.
• Maintain State of Illinois Clinical License, including necessary training/workshops.
• Executes special projects and other activities as requested.
• Other duties as required.

Education/Experience and Qualifications:

• Masters in Social Worker, Counseling, Clinical Psychology or other mental health field.
• Must have completed or working towards completing clinical license (weekly supervision provided).
• LGBTQIA+ culturally competent/humble.
