As a stable, multi generation business, we empower employees to make an impact, build lasting partnerships, and grow their careers in an environment that values integrity and collaboration.Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic helps support the maintenance of company facilities with adherence to food quality and safety policies, with a focus on safe and efficient upkeep and operation of fluid processing equipment, including motors, conveyor systems, and automation software.This is a full-time, at- will, non-exempt hourly position. Schedule flexibility is required, start time may range from 10:00AM start to 3:00PM start.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in keeping company facilities in good operating condition through preventive maintenance, machine tests, troubleshooting and diagnosis, and installation of new equipmentResolve mechanical or structural issues by performing routine or emergency repairs as neededConduct routine inspections of premises and equipmentComplete assigned maintenance tasks and work ordersComply with record keeping responsibilities in connection with preventive maintenance, assigned work orders, or other work performedRespond to questions and requests from production, warehouse, or office personnelOversee contractors when outside support for maintenance or repairs are necessaryMaintain a safe and clean work area, including parts, tools, and supplies, by complying with procedures and requirementsRequirementsAbility to operate in an ever-changing environment with priorities shifting regularlyCapacity and willingness to provide support to a variety of manufacturing activities, from the simple to extremely complexExperience in electric forklift repair and diagnosticsBroad experience with building and equipment maintenance, including electrical systemsMechanically inclined, with ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts, read and understand blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessaryUnderstanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systemsAbility to identify mechanical and electrical components such as solenoid valves, photo eyes, bearings, contactors, fuses, relays, etcFamiliar with repairing pumps such as centrifugal, positive displacement (PD) and diaphragmAbility to use power tools and hand tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, precision measuring instruments, and electronic testing devicesWell organized with time and task management skills, problem-solving ability, and attention to detailProfessional demeanor, positive attitude, and strong communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamBasic computer skills, with ability to learn new business softwareFamiliarity with OSHA safety standards and regulationsFamiliar with 120V and 480V electrical systems; proficient in the use of a multimeter for testing and troubleshooting.Experience in HVAC is a plusExperience in sanitary welding, (TIG, MIG and Orbital), preferred but not requiredPLC programming/troubleshooting a plusHigh school diploma or equivalentTravel/work between three facilities, (2 – Niles, 1 - Northlake) as neededPhysical RequirementsAble to stand and walk throughout the day, including in uncomfortably warm or cold environmentsPhysical dexterity, including use of arms, legs, and body to climb, lift, squat, push, pull, bend, and twist as needed to reach, clean, and service machineryAble to visually inspect machines, equipment, and toolsAble to safely lift and move up to 75 poundsAble to work in high areasRepetitive movement using keyboardBenefits OfferedMedicalDentalVision401k Retirement PlanLife InsuranceDisability InsuranceAccident/Critical Illness InsuranceGenerous PTO AccrualPaid Holidays
