Role Description The Assistant Controller role is a full-time, on-site position based in Oakton Virginia This role supports the Controller and finance leadership in managing day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, month-end close, and preparation of financial statements. The Assistant Controller will review and reconcile accounts, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and ensure accurate recording of revenue, costs, and project-related expenditures. The role also involves supporting audits, maintaining internal controls, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and relevant regulations. Collaboration with operations, project management, and executive teams to provide timely financial reporting and analysis is an essential part of this position.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong financial accounting and reporting skills, including general ledger management, month-end close, and preparation of accurate financial statements.
• Candidates should possess skills in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support planning and decision-making across multiple projects and communities.
• Candidates should possess proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, along with strong Excel skills for reconciliations, data analysis, and reporting.
• Candidates should possess knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and compliance practices, and be able to support audits and regulatory requirements.
• Candidates should possess strong organizational, time management, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA or progress toward certification is preferred.
• Experience in real estate, construction, or property development accounting is highly beneficial. xhyhwjd
