Registered Nurse (RN) FT - Days - Brownsville Cath Lab

Description Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Directs and coordinates all nursing care for departmental‑specific patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired outcomes. Supports the organization’s vision and mission and utilizes knowledge of patient age and cultural diversity in the provision of care. Education and Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred). Current registered nurse’s license in the State of Texas. Current BLS certification. ACLS certification within 6 months of hire. PALS certification within 6 months of hire. Willingness to be cross‑trained to other areas. Good written and verbal communication skills required. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with nursing, administration, and physicians. Preferred: Past hospital experience. Job Knowledge / Experience Ability to practice nursing as described by the definition: “The diagnosis and treatment of human responses to actual or potential health alterations.” Competence in utilizing the best nursing process, including administration of treatments and medications, interpretation of diagnostic tests, formulation of care plans, collaboration with health‑care providers, and patient education. The successful candidate will be required to pass competencies for this position. Responsibilities Promotes the facility mission, vision, and values to colleagues and patients. Ensures care is delivered in accordance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act and ANA Standards. Performs nursing care using sound judgment and implements physician orders safely and accurately. Assists with admitting, discharging, and transferring patients. Maintains detailed and accurate nursing documentation. Participates in health/therapeutic counseling and patient education. Makes rounds on assigned patients and prioritizes patient needs. Maintains a safe and clean environment for patients and coworkers. Provides and receives patient status reports during shift changes. Administers medication and therapies within the scope of safe nursing practice. Formulates, modifies, and implements goal‑oriented patient care plans per facility policy. Reports clinical limitations or need for assistance to appropriate staff. Performs additional duties as assigned. Abides by Board of Nurse Examiners rules and regulations. Provides direction to non‑licensed nursing staff. Anticipates potential problems and intervenes to offset adverse outcomes. Communicates effectively with the charge nurse regarding anticipated or actual issues. Maintains current knowledge of all new policies and procedures. Coordinates coverage schedules with peers. Builds a positive work environment through guidance, development, and teamwork encouragement. Ensures distribution and delivery of equipment and supplies as necessary. Physical Requirements Light to moderate lifting up to 20 lbs from floor to shoulder height. Regular walking, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and repeated bending. Handling of light to moderate carrying up to 20 lbs. Ability to perform straight pulling, hand‑over‑hand pulling, and reaching above shoulder. Climbing ladders (not required). Dual simultaneous grasping and depth perception required. Vision, hearing, reading, writing, and basic arithmetic skills required.
