Substitute Custodian

On an as needed basis, work as a Custodian at a District site. Main duties include cleaning classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, gyms, bathrooms, offices, and other rooms within a school or office site. Cleaning floors including mopping and vacuuming. Emptying trash Performing set ups which may include moving furniture, chairs, tables, and other large items Other duties as assigned by the shift supervisor.

Requirements:

• Flexibility to work at multiple sites
• Ability to accept work with short notice
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
• Ability to be standing/walking for an 8 hour shift
• Ability to push/pull garbage cans, carts, vacuums, brooms, etc
• Criminal Background Check as required by Illinois School Code required
• Statement of Good Health/Free from Communicable Diseases as required by Illinois School Code

Working Environment and Physical Requirements: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting of at least 50 pounds, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness and with use of chemicals, light equipment, and hand tools. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.
