Locations Dacus RTC, 211 Church St. Bono, Bono, AR 72416, USA Description Responsibilities Provide supervisory role over classroom teachers, including attendance tracking, disciplinary action, and time‑off approvals. Assist with hiring and oversee the budget related to purchasing. Develop and implement educational lesson plans, daily agendas, testing materials, grading, etc. All lesson plans are maintained on MFH Intranet on SharePoint. Report for duty one week prior to the first day of school; attend six in‑service and professional development days as scheduled; conduct two parent/teacher conferences (one each semester, except acute); attend four teacher work days. Maintain on‑site preparedness during specified hours for Residential Treatment Centers (8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.), Day Treatment (7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.), and Behavioral Hospital (7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. for unit 3/orange group teacher). During inclement weather, use PTO if unable to report; if no educational services are provided, a make‑up day will be scheduled by program administration. Prepare quality supplemental educational material for unexpected absences so that substitutes can meet student requirements. Maintain classroom order and student engagement. Perform lunch room duty, scheduled by program administration. Facilitate development and provision of in‑service training for educational staff. Collaborate with school districts and other educational institutions on IEP planning and mandatory documentation. Prepare quarterly billing to school districts for educational services. Document attendance records, IEP data, daily observation notes, work portfolios, PACE Learning System data, testing, and weekly lesson plans; submit lesson plans each Friday for the upcoming week. Maintain all graded work for at least two years as part of the student record. Assist the treatment team with educational goals/objectives for client treatment planning. Explore and utilize measurement techniques and assessment tools for program effectiveness. Maintain client records and files as required by licensing, funding, and certification codes. Provide related services and duties as requested by the program administrator. Professional Development Take responsibility for continuing education and professional development; document credits and licensure, and submit to Human Resources for the personnel file. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Valid Arkansas Teaching Certification in Special Education. At least two years of supervisory experience. Knowledge of IDEA regulations. Physically able to participate in Crisis Prevention Intervention Training. CPR and First‑Aid Certification, current. Computer literacy in Microsoft applications; ability to document accurately and professionally. Self‑motivated, able to work in a high‑stress, fast‑paced position with minimal supervision. Physically capable of receiving directions, sitting, and standing for several hours. Good auditory, visual, and olfactory ability; capable of using hands and fingers. Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception needed for observing, communicating, reading, writing, and operating office equipment. Use telephone and computer for communication and data entry/retrieval. Remain current in CPI and Seclusion/Restraint, and assist with crisis interventions when needed. Willing to work with all patients of Methodist Family Health, regardless of gender. Flu shot mandatory (subject to qualified exemptions). Qualifications for Special Education Teachers without a Valid Arkansas Certificate in Special Education First year without certification: Possess a valid Arkansas Teaching Certificate in another area. Have a Deficiency Removal Plan (DRP) or Additional Licensure Plan (ALP) approved by the Arkansas Department of Education. Complete required progress and academic coursework toward the DRP/ALP by the end of the school year. If enrolled in an ALP, submit by the last day of the school year unless prior approval is granted. Failure to meet these requirements may result in non‑issuance of a contract; employment may terminate at the end of the current school year unless ADE documentation is provided. Plan must clearly state “Special Education” at the top. Second Year without Certification: Hold a valid Arkansas Teaching Certificate in another area. Have a DRP or ALP approved by the Arkansas Department of Education. Complete the required minimum hours toward the DRP or ALP by the end of the school year. Failure to meet these requirements may result in non‑issuance of a contract; employment may terminate at the end of the current school year unless ADE documentation is provided. Third Year without Certification: Hold a valid Arkansas Teaching Certificate in another area. Have a DRP or ALP approved by the Arkansas Department of Education. Complete all applicable college hours required to meet certification deficiencies by the end of the school year. Failure to meet these requirements may result in non‑issuance of a contract; employment may terminate at the end of the current school year unless ADE documentation is provided. Notes DRP/ALP must be stamped, initialed, and dated by the certification department; this date is the official filing date. Certification must be completed within three years; if this is the second or third filing, the tracking period begins from the first filing date. Provide copies of teaching certificates, current transcripts, DRP’s or ALP’s, and letters from the ADE to the State Board as required. Enrollment in a college or university to complete coursework must commence within the semester of employment or the following semester. Submit regular reports on progress toward DRP/ALP to the Program Administrator and Human Resources; these reports are added to the employee file and forwarded to the ADE supervisor. Teachers completing coursework under a DRP or ALP must finish requirements within three years; otherwise, a contract will not be issued for the next school year. Program Administrators evaluate the position at least every two years.
