School Custodian

Job Description Gateway Preschool and Technology Center is looking for an experienced, full time custodian to join our team. Responsibilities: Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures, Clean, dust, wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors and carpets; empty wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs; Check and refill soap dispensers, napkin holders and toilet paper holders; Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools, vacuums, brooms, mops for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.; Use ladder when required in work assignments; Lock and unlock assigned buildings; secure building when facilities are not in use, checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights; Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies, use as directed; Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and walkways; Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis; Wash interior and exterior windows when needed including mini blinds; Wipe down walls when needed; Attend to emergencies when needed; Attend safety meetings and other related meetings; Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.; Picking up groceries and supplies as needed from various suppliers; Running various errands for the center as needed; Follow all center policies and meet all applicable state licensing regulations; And assist in other duties as deemed necessary. Punctual and reliable Qualifications: 1 – 2 years of professional experience in food service; preferably in childcare or institutional setting. Basic math skills for measuring and portioning. Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification. Must clear full background check. Must pass health screening. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 30 lbs.
