Interior Designer - Built Solutions, Kansas City

Built Solutions is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Interior Designer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a design professional who enjoys working at the intersection of architecture, interior design, and technology. The Interior Designer serves as a technical and creative resource throughout the project lifecycle, developing innovative interior construction solutions while coordinating with architects, designers, contractors, consultants, and owners. This individual will transform design intent into coordinated, buildable solutions through design development, technical detailing, visualization, documentation, and preconstruction support.

In addition to DIRTT's integrated wall, door, glass, and millwork systems, Built Solutions provides a comprehensive portfolio of architectural products including acoustical solutions, sound masking systems, window shades, healthcare-focused products, and other specialty interior construction solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, Documentation, & Technical Coordination

• Develop interior construction solutions using DIRTT's Design Editor software, AutoCAD, and related design tools.
• Review architectural drawings, specifications, and design intent to define project scope and turn design team goals into coordinated, buildable solutions.
• Produce layouts, elevations, shop drawings, renderings, and 3D visualizations for client review, manufacturing, and installation.
• Coordinate DIRTT systems and other architectural products with building conditions and consultant drawings, and flag conflicts and constructability concerns early.
• Work with manufacturer design and technical teams on custom solutions, and check production and order documents for accuracy before release.
• Manage revisions and design changes throughout the project.
• Maintain working knowledge of building codes, accessibility requirements, and industry best practices.

Project Collaboration & Product Expertise

• Collaborate closely with internal team members, including project managers, business development professionals, sales leaders, and leadership teams to support successful project delivery.
• coordinate with manufacturer design teams, technical representatives, vendor partners, and factory personnel throughout the design and construction process.
• Participate in project meetings and serve as a technical resource for clients, architects, designers, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Assist with project programming, design development, budgeting support, scope definition, and preconstruction activities.
• Develop and maintain expertise across Built Solutions' portfolio of products, including DIRTT systems, acoustical solutions, sound masking, healthcare products, window shades, and specialty architectural interior solutions.
• Maintain strong relationships with industry partners and stay informed on emerging products, technologies, and construction trends.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Interior Architecture, Architectural Technology, or a related field is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Understanding of commercial interior construction and building systems.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• High sense of urgency and commitment to delivery exceptional client service.
