Job Description The Mechanical Technician is responsible for performing both basic and complex diagnostics and maintenance on agricultural and lifting equipment, including customer‑owned or dealer‑owned equipment such as corn headers, combine headers and other agricultural implements. The technician also maintains the company fleet of vehicles and lifting equipment, ensures a clean and safe work environment, continually develops technical skills on evolving products, and performs work at customer sites as required. Responsibilities Maintain the condition and cleanliness of company vehicles, tools, and equipment, and return tools to storage areas. Follow all company and common‑sense safety policies and use required personal safety equipment; ensure a safe work environment and report any issues to the manager. Perform basic or complex diagnostics on agricultural, construction, and diesel equipment, determining necessary repairs or future maintenance recommendations. Complete all service reports and forms accurately and promptly, including inspection reports and work orders, and use computers or tablets for data entry. Carry out repairs on electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and diesel equipment, ensuring quality work and meeting efficiency goals. Participate in all requested training and development, and actively seek improvement through additional training programs. Collaborate with other technicians, parts staff, and sales personnel; mentor apprentices and junior technicians; work after hours or weekends as required. Qualifications Ability to lift 75 pounds without assistance. Ability to travel to training events and service calls as needed. Ability to work extended hours during the week and on weekends. Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle status. Excellent communication and customer‑relationship skills. Proficient in operating vehicles and shop equipment (diagnostic tools, forklifts, hydraulic lifts, etc.). Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Owner of an appropriate mechanic toolset. Proven knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair of ag, automotive, and lifting equipment. Job Type Part Time or Full Time Compensation Starting wage from $16.50 to $24.00 per hour Hours / Work Week 20–40+ hours per week. Hours will largely be from Monday to Friday.
