RECOMMENDED BY Superintendent EVALUATED BY Superintendent REPORTS TO Superintendent SUPERVISES All Building Certified and Non-Certified Personnel CONTRACT DAYS 210 days SUMMARY Provides instructional leadership to the school staff including: curriculum planning, review, and implementation, and professional development. Responsible for building administration and the safety and welfare of both students and staff. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the corporation’s policies and applicable law. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems. EDUCATION/ LICENSE/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Master's or advanced degree in educational administration. Hold a valid Indiana Elementary Administration and Supervision license. Minimum of three (3) years experience in teaching and/or school administration. Must possess strong leadership and communication skills. Such additional qualifications as the Board or the State of Indiana shall require. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties as assigned. Commits to the High Reliability Schools Resolution approved by Richland-Bean Blossom Community School Corporation’s Board of School Trustees. Assumes responsibility for screening, interviewing, and recommending to the Superintendent for employment of all building personnel. Assists new members of the staff in becoming properly acclimated to their new environments. Assumes responsibility for the evaluation of certified and non-certified personnel in accordance with Board policy. Assumes the responsibility for the supervision and coordination of the staff and non-certified personnel. Schedules, organizes, and conducts staff meetings on a periodic basis or whenever appropriate. Maintains appropriate, complete, and up to date personnel records on all members of the staff. Assumes responsibility for the supervision and administration of the building educational program and conducts a continuous study of the curriculum in order to formulate recommendations to the Superintendent of Schools concerning students' educational needs. Assists the Superintendent of Schools with the development, scheduling, and conduct of inservice programs for the improvement of instruction. Is responsible for creating an atmosphere conducive to proper behavior of all students, including behavior and discipline problems which occur on school buses. Develops a written procedure for administration of student discipline and makes it available to all students. Directs the development of the master schedule and the scheduling of students within the master schedule. Assumes the responsibility for the development, scheduling, and coordination of student organizations and activities. Provides for the proper supervision of school related activities. Assists the appropriate supervisor with the employment of all building level non-certified personnel. Assumes the responsibility for the supervision and coordination of all building level non-certified staff members. Assists the appropriate supervisor with an annual evaluation of all building level non-certified personnel in accordance with Board policy. Is responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, and appearance of the school. Supervises a carefully planned budget of the expenditures of school funds in accordance with the provisions of the budget, the laws of the State of Indiana, and the objectives of the School Corporation. Requisitions instructional supplies and equipment based upon justified needs in accordance with the guidelines established by the Superintendent. Conducts emergency drills, as mandated by the state or Board Policy, and files reports concerning these drills with the Superintendent in a timely manner. Completes building usage forms in accordance with Board policy. Meets with parents, teachers, students, and community groups and organizations demonstrating an interest in education. Attends meetings pertaining to the educational needs of the School Corporation. Conducts the public relations program on behalf of the school. Acts as liaison between the school and the Parent - Teacher Organization. Resolves problems and conflicts as they arise between teachers, students and parents. Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field. Maintains a high degree of confidentiality. Maintains professional appearance and behavior while serving as administrator and/or supervisor. Ensures own regular and prompt attendance. Effectively completes regular and other job performance criteria as assigned. Promotes good public relations for the school district and community. Remains free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Superintendent may from time to time assign. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and analyze, and interpret educational periodicals and professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES Must be able to speak on demand to large groups of people. Must be able to transport between school buildings, districts and cities. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of policies.
