What To Expect
The Quality Engineer, Stamping, will work as a member of Tesla’s Quality organization. The primary objective of this role is to support the production of high-quality Cold Stamping through the continual improvement of process and product quality and the systems that surround them. The successful candidate for this position must be a problem-solver at core, have a strong quality & customer-focused mindset and risk assessment, and have the personal drive and stamina for relentless, continual improvement (personally and professionally). What You'll Do Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams to drive process and product improvements; use of QA methodologies to manage and facilitate issue resolution including root cause investigations and the development, implementation and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actionsEstablish and maintain monthly quality performance metricsReview concerns Design Engineering and perform risk assessment and continue to understand functions of castings geometry for vehicle load casesDevelop and implement quality standards as part of the Tesla Quality System to assure products meet expectations of our target customersSupport the development of product specifications and tolerances, design and process FMEAs and develop quality plan for die approvalEstablish and maintain control plans and inspection standards to assure critical features are controlled through the assembly/production processesLead/facilitate review and disposition of discrepant materials identified for control of nonconforming productPromote and maintain a culture and attitude of continuous improvement, working within the Tesla team to make it more efficient, safer and an enjoyable place to work What You'll Bring Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or manufacturing related field or equivalent experience Proficient in stamping processes including process variables, tooling dies, and raw material propertiesDemonstrated success applying quality problem solving methods such as fishbone diagrams and 5 WhysProficiency in risk assessments, PFMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC and quality core toolsThorough knowledge of GD&T and ability to interpret CMM reportsExperience with CAD tools such as Solidworks and CatiaExperience with broad variety of measurement devices, inspection techniques, and mechanical testing of plates and strips including report interpretationAbility to establish and maintain timelines, dashboards and KPIs to ensure visibility and accountabilityExcellent oral, written and presentation communication skillsAbility and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (5% to 10%) Benefits
