Job Title: Deli Manager

Location: Littlefield Retail Group – Littlefield Express

Reports To: Store Manager / District Manager / Director of Food Service

Job Summary:

The Deli Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the deli department in a convenience store chain. This includes managing staff, ensuring food safety compliance, maintaining inventory, and delivering excellent customer service. The role requires strong leadership skills, organization, and a passion for providing high-quality food products.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management

Oversee daily deli operations, including food preparation, cooking, and display.

Ensure all food safety and sanitation standards are met, including proper food storage and temperature controls.

Maintain compliance with company policies, health regulations, and safety guidelines.

Monitor sales trends and adjust product offerings to maximize profitability.

Inventory & Cost Control

Manage inventory levels, including ordering and receiving deli supplies.

Minimize waste by implementing proper portion control and rotation procedures (FIFO method).

Conduct regular inventory checks and ensure accurate record-keeping.

Work within budget constraints and control labor costs.

Staff Management

Train and supervise deli staff.

Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to team members.

Promote a positive and productive work environment.

Ensure staff adheres to company policies and food safety regulations.

Customer Service & Sales

Provide excellent customer service and address customer inquiries or concerns.

Ensure deli products are fresh, well-stocked, and attractively displayed.

Implement promotional activities and upselling techniques to increase sales.

Maintain a clean and welcoming deli area.

Qualifications & Skills:

Previous experience in food service, preferably in a deli or convenience store setting.

Leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team.

Strong understanding of food safety regulations and compliance.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Basic math skills for inventory and cost control.

Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety training.

Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems and inventory management software.

Previous experience managing a high-volume deli operation.

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift /move objects up to 50+/- pounds.
