Job Title: Machinist
Job Description
The Machinist will perform a complex series of progressive machine operations to meet precise and close tolerance requirements. You will optimize machine processes, set up, and operate both manual and CNC machines to produce parts accurately and efficiently. Your role involves manually cycling machines through sequences, correcting deviations, adjusting machine speeds and feeds, and calibrating and changing cutters to ensure parts meet specifications.
Responsibilities

• Understand complex machine functions and troubleshoot operating difficulties.
• Repair and correct basic machine issues, tooling, or replacement parts.
• Review setup sheets and specifications to determine setup procedure, machine sequence, and dimensions.
• Interpret engineering drawings, identify and correct errors, and recommend potential improvements.
• Complete first piece inspection using a variety of precision measuring and inspection devices.
• Maintain quality and safety standards.
• Train apprentices or other machinists/operators as needed.
• Operate a forklift or crane when necessary.
• Follow company procedures to complete assignments and maintain required records.
• Communicate concerns to management and participate in solution implementation.
• Participate in and contribute to a continuous improvement culture, including Lean initiatives.
• Maintain a clean and neat work area.
• Work effectively as a team member to contribute to a positive workplace.
• Demonstrate and support company values.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in operating various manual and CNC machines simultaneously.
• Ability to set up and run machines.
• Familiarity with controls such as Mazak, Fanuc, and Mazatrol.
• Knowledge of G & M codes.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
• Ability to prove out machined programs.
• Proficiency with various precision measuring and inspection tools.
• Forklift and crane operation skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Preferably 3-5 years of experience.
• Mazak experience is a huge plus.
• Completion of a state apprenticeship with journeyman card or equivalent experience and knowledge.
• Willingness to cross-train and work in other functional areas of the shop as needed.

Work Environment
You will work in a dynamic shop environment utilizing advanced manual and CNC machines. The role may require operating forklifts and cranes. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sussex, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $38.00/hr.
