250400 - Speciality Doctor in Emergency Medicine

Applications are invited for Specialty Doctors to join our Emergency Medicine Team. We also welcome applications from General Practitioners with a special interest in Emergency Medicine. The post is based at the new Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and is aimed at doctors who have completed at least four years of full‑time relevant postgraduate experience (or the equivalent gained on a part‑time or flexible basis), at least two years of which must have been in a speciality training programme in a relevant speciality (e.g. Emergency Medicine) or as a fixed‑term speciality trainee in a relevant speciality. Alternatively, applicants should have equivalent experience and competencies suitable for ST3 level and above. The post will provide the successful applicant with the opportunity to gain wide‑ranging experience in Emergency Medicine and develop procedural skills while benefiting from protected development time. We are a friendly, supportive, and enthusiastic team and are looking to recruit like‑minded individuals. The successful candidate will be contracted for 40 hours per week, and the post is permanent. Clinical work will be based within our Emergency Department. Ideal Candidate MBChB or equivalent qualification.

MRCEM.

Full General Medical Council registration and licence to practise. Appropriate practical skills for Emergency Medicine. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively within a team and demonstrate both leadership and followership skills. Demonstrable organisational and time‑management skills. Appointment will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service of Hospital Medical and Dental Staff, and Doctors and Dentists in Public Health Medicine and the Community Health Service (Scotland). The Galloway Community Hospital, which serves Stranraer and the west of the region, is an intermediate care unit providing maternity services as well as medical and surgical beds. In addition, there are bedded units within eight cottage hospitals that provide care services, including minor injuries units. Midpark Hospital provides inpatient facilities for mental health patients. Dumfries and Galloway is a beautiful and largely undiscovered part of Scotland. This post would suit a doctor who enjoys walking, running, cycling, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities.
