Automation Facilities Manager

We’re looking for an experienced Automation & Facilities Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance and facilities function within a large, highly automated distribution operation.

This is not a traditional building-maintenance position. The ideal candidate brings a combination of facilities leadership, automation expertise, PLC/Ladder Logic knowledge, material handling systems (MHS), preventive maintenance, project integration, and experience operating within an FDA-regulated environment .

You’ll lead a multi-shift maintenance team of (10) while ensuring our automation, facility assets, infrastructure, safety systems, and preventive maintenance programs operate effectively.

What Are You Going to Do?

• Lead the maintenance and facilities function for a large distribution facility supporting both automated and manual operations .
• Provide leadership and direction to a team of maintenance professionals across multiple shifts.
• Support and troubleshoot automation, robotics/CoBots, PLCs, Ladder Logic, conveyors, and material handling systems (MHS) .
• Develop, execute, and continuously improve a robust preventive maintenance program using CMMS .
• Manage facility assets, equipment reliability, maintenance schedules, and repair priorities.
• Oversee HVAC, electrical, conveyor, packaging, access-control, fire-suppression, low-voltage, and facility infrastructure systems .
• Lead facility and automation project integrations, equipment installations, and start-ups .
• Maintain the facility in accordance with applicable FDA, HACCP, and SQF requirements and guidelines .
• Partner with Operations, IT, landlords, vendors, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to resolve facility and equipment issues.
• Manage maintenance and facility budgets, project costs, vendor agreements, and capital requirements.
• Establish and maintain effective 5S and Lean initiatives .
• Review technical manuals, engineering drawings, architectural plans, and equipment specifications.
• Lead team scheduling, training, performance management, timekeeping, corrective actions, and employee development.
• Support accident investigations and facility safety initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement focused on equipment uptime, operational efficiency, reliability, cost management, and labor utilization .

What Do You Bring?

Required:

• Minimum 5 years of progressive facilities and/or maintenance leadership experience within a large distribution, fulfillment, manufacturing, or similarly complex operation.
• Strong experience supporting automated material handling systems and equipment .
• Working knowledge and experience with PLCs and Ladder Logic , particularly for equipment troubleshooting.
• Experience with automation, robotics and/or CoBots .
• Experience working within an FDA-regulated facility .
• Demonstrated experience developing and executing preventive maintenance/CMMS programs .
• Experience leading maintenance teams and managing day-to-day employee performance.
• Experience managing equipment/facility integrations, installations, or start-up projects .
• Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to effectively manage vendors, contractors, operational partners, and internal stakeholders.

Highly Preferred:

• Business, Engineering, Technical, or related degree.
• Experience with 480/277V and 208/120V electrical systems .
• Knowledge of low-voltage wiring and infrastructure .
• Experience with access-control, security, and fire-suppression systems .
• HVAC and conveyor-system knowledge.
• Experience implementing Lean and 5S programs .
• Experience with CAD, SAP, WMS, Microsoft Office, and related systems.
• Budget and capital-project management experience.
