Senior Specialist, Global Engineering Solutions - Packaging Engineer Capital Project Lead

Senior specialist role leading capital projects from conception through qualification at Merck's Global Engineering Solutions Tech Center. Combines technical engineering expertise with project leadership, vendor management, and stakeholder coordination to deliver manufacturing, laboratory, and packaging infrastructure safely and on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Lead large capital projects independently or manage portfolio of smaller projects from FEL1 through C&Q completion
• Develop project execution plans, feasibility assessments, and ensure scope aligns with business objectives
• Manage cost budgeting, forecasting, procurement strategies, and financial control with Target Value Delivery principles
• Oversee construction, develop pull planning schedules, implement change management, and identify risks early
• Lead commissioning, qualification activities, coordinate CQV professionals, and ensure compliant handover to operations

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Process, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or Automation
• Minimum 5 years delivering capital and expense projects
• Experience with project scheduling, budget control, commissioning, qualification, and change management
• Strong oral and written communication and decision-making skills
• Familiarity with packaging equipment, vendors, and regulatory expectations including GMP
• Experience leading CQV on large capital projects preferred
