As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department , your input in enhancing patient care is both valued and encouraged at every level. This includes fostering open, collaborative relationships with your direct supervisor as well as engaging in more formal avenues through hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You will play a crucial role in shaping decisions that improve patient outcomes and advance the nursing profession.

Job Overview and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering exceptional, patient-focused care that aligns with the specific needs of the department and adheres to the standards of practice relevant to the state and specialty. Working alongside medical professionals and other members of the healthcare team, the RN provides tailored, comprehensive, and compassionate care utilizing established nursing frameworks such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN acts as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organization’s vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and clinical outcomes that enhance overall departmental performance.

  • Regularly evaluates patient pain to facilitate effective pain management, including follow-up assessments after interventions.
  • Executes procedures, monitoring, or other tasks as directed by medical providers, ensuring timely and thorough documentation of care in the patient’s medical record.
  • Delivers exceptional care by promptly addressing patient requests and proactively anticipating their needs.
  • Educates patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, and follow-up actions, simplifying complex medical terminology for better understanding.
  • Instructs patients, families, and caregivers on non-pharmacological follow-up measures, such as healthy eating, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle modifications, preparing them for future self-management.
Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 60 days of starting employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training must be completed within 90 days of starting employment.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification must be obtained within 60 days of starting employment.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Registered Nurse diploma required.
  • This is a 12-hour night shift position.
  • Previous experience in the Emergency Department is essential.
