LOCATION : Mineral Wells, TX | Onsite

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

• $36.05 per hour
• Monday–Friday standard business hours; early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

ROLE IMPACT

This is a high-visibility leadership role overseeing fund accounting, financial reporting, and audit readiness for a stable public-sector organization in Mineral Wells. The Accounting Manager partners directly with executive leadership to ensure compliance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), protect public funds, and maintain long-term fiscal stability. Success in this role means clean audits, accurate reporting, and disciplined financial oversight that supports informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and review of monthly and annual financial statements in compliance with GASB and GAAP
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and audit documentation
• Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure timely processing and strong internal controls
• Support budget development, forecasting, and variance analysis to guide leadership planning
• Manage grant accounting, special revenue funds, tax revenue, and debt service in accordance with regulatory requirements; coordinate the annual external audit

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience, including fund accounting, governmental accounting, or public-sector finance
• Supervisory experience with strong working knowledge of GAAP, GASB, internal controls, and audit compliance

• Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
• Fund accounting and governmental finance software
• Financial reporting and budgeting platforms
• Payroll and accounts payable/receivable systems
• Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools

PREFERRED SKILLS

• Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) or similar municipal finance certification
• Experience with grants management and public funds administration
• Strong leadership, analytical, and cross-functional communication skills
