Senior Attorney - Litigation (Short Hills or Miami)

Summary DLA Piper is seeking a Senior Attorney to join its Litigation group. The position is not on the partnership track and is available in our Short Hills or Miami offices. Candidates must have 5+ years of commercial litigation and product liability experience, and experience appearing in state and federal courts. Required education: JD. Bar admission in New Jersey or Florida. Responsibilities Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with partners, lawyers, clients, staff, and third parties. Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence in an efficient and responsive manner, meeting all deadlines. Analyze complex legal issues in a logical manner, applying legal principles and research to specific facts. Provide timely, accurate, and well‑reasoned work product. Be available whenever needed to ensure timely delivery of services, including during business hours, evenings, and weekends. Apply sustained and intense concentration for extended periods of time. Work under pressure to meet deadlines and perform to the satisfaction of clients and colleagues. Engage in both physical and sedentary activity, including working at a computer for extended periods, telephonic conferences, and meetings at client offices. Travel as required to client meetings, advocacy before tribunals or government agencies, or business‑development activities. Foster relationships and anticipate clients’ needs to achieve continued engagement. Mentor and supervise junior lawyers and staff. Observe all Firm policies and practices. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in commercial litigation and product liability. Experience appearing in state and federal courts; prior state or federal clerkship is a plus. JD degree and bar admission in New Jersey or Florida. Proficiency in oral communications, writing, analysis, and strategic thinking. Strong client‑impact orientation, solution focus, and project‑management skills. Self‑awareness, relationship building, people management, and team‑building capabilities. Entrepreneurial mindset, business‑development acumen, and professionalism. Physical Demands Heavy sedentary work: sitting most of the time, occasional standing or walking. The role may require exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or lifting, carrying, or moving objects. Work Environment Hybrid – regular in‑office presence with some flexibility for work‑from‑home. Pay Transparency Expected salary range: $180,000 – $300,000 per year, depending on geographic location and other factors. The firm also offers medical, dental, vision insurance and a 401(k) plan.
