Description {Mur-chol-uh | The science of company merch; the skill of creating and delivering custom-branded apparel and corporate gifts around the world.} Merchology is a leading eCommerce retailer in B2B sales of co‑branded merchandise including apparel, headwear, drinkware, gifts, and accessories. We are family‑owned, people‑powered, and we are adding to our #MerchTeam at our facility in Plymouth. Merchology seeks a Controller to join our Finance team. Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Controller is responsible for accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, audit management, and accounting process infrastructure. This position oversees the integrity of Merchology’s financial statements while managing accounting operations across inventory, revenue recognition, vendor transactions, and multi‑channel sales and fulfillment activity. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The successful Controller will oversee: Financial Reporting & Close Process Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP Prepare and maintain monthly and annual Adjusted EBITDA reporting packages, including identification, documentation, and reconciliation of non‑recurring, non‑operating, and other approved adjustment items Manage general ledger, reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial reporting and accounting records Maintain accounting policies and procedures Accounting Operations Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Accounting functions Supervise and develop accounting staff Manage daily accounting operations and transactional workflows Improve close timelines and accounting efficiency Inventory & Operational Accounting Oversee inventory accounting across internal and external warehouses and/or fulfillment partners Ensure accurate inventory valuation, reserves, landed cost allocation, and COGS reporting Reconcile inventory and sales data across ERP, e‑commerce, and fulfillment systems Support gross margin accuracy and operational reporting Revenue Recognition & Compliance Ensure proper revenue recognition across e‑commerce, B2B, fulfillment, and service revenue streams Maintain accounting for returns, discounts, credits, and customer incentives Coordinate annual audit and tax processes Ensure compliance with sales tax, payroll tax, and regulatory requirements Manage internal controls and accounting compliance processes Systems & Process Improvement Maintain ERP/accounting system integrity and workflow discipline Support accounting automation and reporting improvements Develop scalable accounting infrastructure to support company growth Partner with finance and operations leadership to improve reporting accuracy and operational visibility Requirements 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience Bachelor’s or associate degree in accounting or finance Proficiency with GAAP and basic principles of accounting Experience in inventory‑heavy e‑commerce, distribution, or consumer products business Experience managing audits and financial reporting Collaborative and professional interpersonal and organizational skills Advanced Skills in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (NetSuite a plus) WHAT WE OFFER Generous PTO (18 days per year) 8 company‑paid holidays Hybrid work schedule for select departments 40 hours of paid volunteer time 401(k) with match Medical and dental insurance options, FSA, and HSA (with company HSA match), Critical Illness and Hospital Indemnity, Short- and Long-Term disability insurance options Company-paid life insurance Company-sponsored social events Premium brand partner discounts Employee-led Committees LOCATION 3000 Niagara Lane North, Plymouth, MN 55447 Remote hybrid role: Three days onsite and two days remote INDUSTRY Business to Business eCommerce and Apparel Merchology is an equal opportunity employer and certified Disability‑owned Business Enterprise.
