Husbandry Assistant (Part-Time, SeaWorld San Diego)

Job Overview We are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated, and hard‑working individuals to become Ambassadors at SeaWorld. The role involves representing SeaWorld and United Parks & Resorts with a positive attitude, high energy, and commitment to quality in all aspects of the job. Job Duties and Responsibilities Ambassadors perform a variety of responsibilities across animal care, guest services, and park operations: Prepare animal diets daily by filling, weighing, and arranging them by animal area. Store and inventory food daily; staff the central fish warehouse. Maintain safe and sanitary living areas and food preparation and storage spaces, following USDA regulations. Provide accurate cash handling and accounting of sales for interactive programs on the Global Res system for feeder booth sales. Assist in emergency situations, providing water rescue, CPR/AED, and First Aid. Maintain the safety of animals and people in and around pools. Maintain proficiency in park knowledge; greet guests and assist with interaction program check‑in and wetsuit preparation. Maintain quality cleanliness standards in locker facilities; prepare guest locker rooms and stock appropriate wetsuit sizes. Identify, observe, and answer guest questions about exhibit animals, conservation, and the park. Watch for unsafe situations around exhibits and ensure excellent customer service by responding to guest requirements, expectations, and needs. Communicate professionally and effectively with Ambassadors, vendors, and guests. Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting other locations and areas in the park as needed. Qualifications Lifeguard experience preferred. Experience preparing animal diets preferred. Previous experience in a guest service‑related position preferred. Valid driver’s license. American Red Cross Lifeguard certification preferred. At least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent. Responsibilities for Others Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to safety requirements. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 lbs. Regular use of hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms. Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; extensive walking and standing throughout the shift. May need to climb or ascend heights if required. Stand for prolonged periods. Perform kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching overhead, and fine hand manipulation tasks. May be exposed to fumes, dust, odors, and extreme temperatures. Perform cleaning duties, including use of cleaning chemicals. Availability Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and early mornings (5:30am–5:30pm). Availability for varying shifts, including opening and closing shifts, weekends, and holidays. Training Park‑wide trainings including Implicit Bias and others as needed. Work Conditions Work indoors and outdoors under direct sunlight, wet and/or humid conditions. Handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment with moderate noise levels. Manage time wisely, set priorities effectively. Interact positively with guests and co‑workers of all ages, backgrounds, languages, and individuals with special needs.
