Patient Service Representative - Patient Access

Swedish Medical Center

Responsibilities Coordinate information & support needed for patient flow within the Swedish Medical Center and Emergency Department. Provide front‑line customer service as reception/registration staff. Interview patients and families to collect required demographic and financial data, complete consents, escort patients, and collect valuable deposits. Serve as the initial contact for general billing, insurance, and collection questions. Assist patients in financial assistance programs and process all necessary paperwork. Act as a conduit to staff for alternate coverage sources, including payment arrangements for private pay accounts. Serve as POS team expert to facilitate all registration functions during hospitalization. Coordinate coverage issues with Physician Offices and POS team members to ensure timely, accurate patient information flow. Participate in quality‑improvement activities of the Medical Center and Emergency Department. Perform special project assignments as directed. Work occasional unscheduled shifts or shift portions, and assist in finding coverage for absences. Qualifications Associate's Degree. At least 2 years of experience in a medical setting with inpatient or outpatient admitting. Experience in Patient Registration, financial counseling, insurance, and medical terminology.
