Location: 52-34 Van Dam Street, Long Island City, NY, 11101, United States Base Pay: $42,436.00 / Year Employee Type: Non-Exempt Position Title: Driver Reports To: Social Services Director Employment Status: Full-Time Department: Social Services FLSA Status: Non-Exempt GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION The Driver will be responsible for transporting clients to apartment viewings and appointments with various agencies. Transport clients to permanent housing, apartment viewings, and other appointments. Assist families with moving in and out of facilities. Assist with loading and unloading the van with the Maintenance Department for each facility. Operate facility vans on all types of roadways. Communicate with the Program Director regarding whereabouts on a daily basis. Answer phone calls when called (unless driving). Visually inspect the interior and exterior of the vehicle on a daily basis. Ensure that the vehicle is clean at all times. Ensure the van is in excellent working condition, including proper fuel levels, oil changes, and brakes. Ensure the vehicle is taken for proper inspections and registration is up to date. Ensure the E‑ZPass is adhered to properly and reads correctly when going through tolls. Be held accountable for operator’s motor vehicle traffic violations. In the event of an emergency, essential employees are required to report to work as scheduled. Duties and responsibilities subject to change based upon assessment of company needs. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Must have a valid Driver’s License and pass a license record check. One year of experience in Transportation Services preferred. Must be able to interact effectively with facility staff, client population, and administration (verbally and in writing). Must be capable of heavy lifting at least 50 lbs. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment. Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.
