Adjunct Faculty – Introduction to Psychology (PSYC 100) University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on‑site at Fort Sam Houston, TX, for the Psychology program. The course, Introduction to Psychology (PSYC 100), covers the basic principles, research concepts, and problems in psychological science with a focus on biological, cognitive, and social perspectives of human thought and behavior. Topics include neuroscience, sensation and perception, learning and conditioning, memory, motivation, language and intelligence, personality and social behavior, psychopathology, therapy, and applications of psychology. The goal is to apply major concepts and use the scientific method to enhance the understanding of individual, community, and organizational life experiences. Required Education and Experience Master’s degree in Psychology or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning. Professional experience in Psychology or a related field. Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred. Position is specifically to teach on‑site at Fort Sam Houston, TX. Preferred Education and Experience Terminal degree in Psychology or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning. Materials Needed for Submission Resume or Curriculum Vitae. Adjunct Faculty Role at UMGC Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning. Guide students in active collaboration and application of their learning in problem- and project‑based learning demonstrations. Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments. Demonstrate relevant and current subject‑matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program. Provide feedback to program chair on possible curricular improvements.
