Work is performed under well established guidelines set forth by Idaho Code and requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. A Civil Front Counter Deputy Court Clerk will be trained in File and Serve, Odyssey, and Customer Support. File and Serve Clerks are responsible for monitoring the online File and Serve database and processing confidential documents. Odyssey is a web-based computer system that manages our court cases. Civil Front Counter Clerks are responsible for working with the public and the legal community: scheduling hearings, processing new and consecutive filings, implementing court policies and procedures, and assisting customers with questions and concerns. This role supports the Clerks mission to serve and build trust./ppDistinguishing Features of the Class: A Deputy Court Clerk at the Civil Front Counter generally performs key clerical functions that are often recurring in nature. However, a Civil Front Counter clerk will be required to have a broad knowledge of an array of court case types in order to perform these more complex functions of the job. Types of cases to include: Name Changes, Unlawful Detainer/Eviction, Small Claims, Foreign Judgments, BACs, Custody, Paternity, Defacto Custodian, Legal Separation/Annulment w/ Minor Children, Legal Separation/Annulment without Minor Children, Divorce with Minor Children, Divorce without Minor Children, CPO Domestic Violence, CPO Stalking/Threat, Filing Custody Decree from another State./ph2Essential Functions/h2ulliActs as front-facing contact, assisting the public and the legal community with court related documents in-person and onsite, via phone, and/or email;/liliFiles paper documents over the counter;/liliCollects fees over the counter;/liliProcess all out of court cases;/liliProcess all types of cases and documents presented to court in File and Serve;/liliExplains policies and procedures pursuant to requests of the public attorneys and other officials and departments;/liliCreates case files, updates databases;/liliReviews documents presented for compliance to standards;/liliResponds to correspondence;/liliBalances receipts and cash incoming on a daily basis;/liliHandles database management for specific areas of law;/liliSets hearing dates and maintains calendar;/liliMaintains high level of confidentiality;/liliOperates office equipment;/liliCreates legal forms, form letters, reports and similar materials;/liliSorts and stamps documents and files a wide variety of legal and judicial materials;/liliFacilitates adherence of business operating hours and court schedules, including arriving punctually and on time for work./li/ulpAdditional Functions:/pulliMay cross train in other areas to perform the work of others for vacations, illness, etc.;/liliPerforms related functions as required./li/ulh2Job Requirements/h2ulliMust have a high school diploma or equivalent;/liliKnowledge of legal procedures documents and terminology preferred;/liliAbility to learn wide variety of types of legal case procedures;/liliSkill in the operation of computers;/liliSkill in time management, including the ability to be punctual and on-time;/liliAbility to deal with difficult customers and remain calm in sensitive, highly emotional situations;/liliAbility to understand and follow verbal and written directions;/liliAbility to communicate verbally and in writing;/liliAbility to maintain confidentiality;/liliAbility to maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees and the public;/liliAbility to handle money accurately and make proper change./li/ulh2Work Environment Physical Demands/h2ulliWork is performed on-site at the Ada County Courthouse;/liliMay be required to lift or move up to 25 pounds;/liliWork is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions;/liliRequires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, to permit the employee to function in a general office environment and accomplish tasks./li/ulpDisclaimer: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential functions satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
